So I have been doing screen printing by hand for years, last week I finally upgraded and got a used American Tempo for a good price. Its been fun figuring out how to use the press.
When printing 18x24 posters by hand I use 25x36" screens but I need to get some larger screens than that to be able to print 18x24 prints on this press. I have been looking around and it seems that Victory Factory has pretty good prices on large screens. Does anyone have any other suggestions? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
If you shop for the lowest price, you will waste your money on shit frames with shit mesh.
Likewise, confining your search to vendors with online ordering/checkout.
Ideally, find a company serving the local screenprint industry. Call commercial print shops and ask where they get screens made.
I go to Graphic Screen Fashion in Elgin IL...they have no website. I expect there is something similar in central OH and certainly in Cleveland.
Just to add, mesh makes the difference here. The cheap guys are cheap because they use cheap mesh, and also don't bother doing a stretch-rest-stretch cycle.
cheap mesh rips easy, and slack mesh doesn't coat or print as nice as tight.
Sefar is a good mesh. Same with Saati and NBC (Murikami) Your supplier should be able to tell you what brand they are using.
