I am so sick of tiling 13"x18" films with my Epson 1280.
Is anyone still using the 3000? Are the drivers out of date?
What else? I just need to do 17x21 minimum.
Talk to me.
look for a used Epson 7800. While I prefer the 7600 those drivers are out of date.
I still use a 3000 and it makes great films, but the drivers are out of date and I still have to pay Delicious if I need something bigger than 17x22.
I've had the 7800 for about a month and it's amazing. No more headaches trying to tile films with halftones and textures. Keep an eye on Craigslist, sometimes people have trouble selling them locally so you can find a good deal. I used that search tempest site where you can check a bunch of different cities within a certain radius at the same time. I had to drive 4 hours to Charlotte for mine but was able to grab it for $350.
I'm using rolls, yes. I get my rolls from lex-jet, but I think there are some cheaper options out there. Also you can keep a lookout for the 9800 as well. It's a bigger machine but you could print your films out 2-up. If you find one and the price is right that is.
We just got a 24" HP 7500C off craigslist for $200 that the guy fixed up in his spare time. It's been a breeze so far.
Ive used an Epson 4000 for a number of years now. They have been easy to find on craigslist for pretty cheap. I have it set up with 17" wide x 100' roll.
@Patoutloud, yo how's Columbus these days? Haven't been back there since I left in '97.
