    Default Recommend Printers for Positives?

Hey guys, I'm looking into getting a printer to print my positives, but don't really know much about them. Up till now I've just been getting oversize black and white prints at Kinkos and then using baby oil to make them transparent. A large format printer would be idea, I'd prefer not to have to tile together the positives for larger posters.

Anyone got suggestions or comments? Thanks!

Epson 1400/1430 is a common choice. We have a 1430 with accurip for halftones, and 6 black ink cartridges.

I use an Epson 4000 that I scored off Kijiji for a hundred bucks. 17" wide so no tiling necessary for anything that I do, but if you want larger there are 24" models like the 7800. From what I gather, a lot of people use the wide format Epsons for films.

If you're patient, a decent deal comes along now and then on Kijiji or Craigslist. In my case it was several months of casual searching/waiting, but I wasn't in any rush.

I use a 1400 with no rip. The high quality setting works well enough for me. You can get edge to edge printing on 13"x19" film. I scored mine of Craigslist for $75.

Just found an Epson 7800 for $350 on craigslist. Goodbye tiling, welcome back halftones.
