    Default Printers

    Hey guys,
First post here. I'm trying to get into screen printing. Mostly for a hobby, but hopefully for some extra cash.
I'm pretty savy digitally and have gathered enough plans from this site to build an exposure unit and a printing pallate.

What i'm stuck on is creating the transparancies to burn my screens. do i just pony up the money to buy a big ass printer and some film or are there other methods?

If getting a printer is the only way are there suggestions?

    Your advice is much appreciated,
    -Aaron

If working digitally print it at kinkos on bond then rub it with baby oil so it is translucent. Do a search here and you'll find more info.

Or skip the messy baby oil and figure out your exposure time through non-oiled bond paper.

Or just have kinko's print your films on transparent film. Or go to a blue print printer & have them print it on vellum - longer exposure time, but you don't have to coat the world in oil.

The oil method doesn't have to be messy - just use enough to rub in and make the paper somewhat translucent. I used this method until I bought a second hand Epson ink jet capable of 13"x19" prints. The baby oiled kinkos large format prints were a good and cheap way to get started. After buying films from a local shop though, I knew I'd eventually get my own large(r) format ink jet. Have fun.

Hey guys, what would be best option than selecting one of the reputed printers for the printing services?
