Default Where to buy Drying Racks

We are looking to buy some new print drying racks. The dealer we are talking with is quoting us some crazy shipping/crating cost. Like $1000 shipping on a $1600 rack. CGS doesn't have any racks in right now.

We are looking for 2 racks 26"X40" minimum.

Any ideas of other dealer's we could talk to?

Wil, your best bet is Craigslist and a friend with a truck. You may have to be patient and willing to invest a day of driving if you're trying to save the cash. I watched out for ours for about a month before one popped up near Baltimore.

Thanks, Jason. I have seen a couple pop up, but they are always gone before I get in touch with the seller. I guess I will just start checking it everyday.

google thorton equipment, he always seems to have racks. IN your local area, start phoning larger established sign companies.

Try Google Alerts Wil? Set up an alert for "'drying rack' site:http://richmond.craigslist.org" and all the Craigslists in VA/DC/MD/PA/NC/WV. Then you don't have to search every day. You're going to get a bunch of emails about laundry, but it'll save you a ton of effort.

I'm lucky to live in Cleveland. We have a place here called HGR. They sell used factory equipment. Most of it isn't relevant to us printers, but occasionally they have racks come up. I just bought a badass rack for $80. I'm not sure how I'll fit it into my basement. It weighs over 400 pounds. I'll post pics when they deliver. You'll laugh for sure. The other great deals they usually have are blueprint flat files - the nice metal ones for $70. They have some screen printing presses but for such a low price I can't imagine they're worth a damn.

I try to resist going to HGR because I spend way too much time there. It's a 500,000 sq foot former car factory completely filled with every piece of manufacturing equipment from the last 100 years. I don't know what most of the stuff does, but it's sure cool to look at. Need a lathe the size of a trailer home? bam. They've got it.
