Default Air hockey table as vacuum table?

    Hi all,

I've been printing textile for the past three years but in the past six months i've fallen in love with screen printed posters and have decided to start trying my hand at it. Mixed results so far but i'm having a blast.

Currently I've been using my Ryonet silver press but there's definitely some improvement needed so I recently purchased Andy's book and have been looking over the plans to build a vacuum table.

My hair brained scheme, and maybe it's been tried before, is to turn an old air hockey table into a vacuum table. I'm hoping that by replacing the blower from the table with a vacuum (or just reversing the blower if that's possible) that it will essentially work the same as the table in Andy's book?

Thoughts anyone? Has it been tried?

Also, thanks for all the process threads and other instructional stuff, learning a lot and plan on going premium ASAP.

yes sacrilege. Besides, it doesn't have the support. If the surface flexes when you print, it won't print well.

well, got to give the spammer credit, it's on topic.

I wonder if you can expose screens with the light over centre ice on some models.

When I was building my press, I used to say that I was constructing something like "a reverse air hockey table". This analogy got out of hand really quickly, and now this ragtag band of kids that learned how to believe in themselves in the Reverse Air Hockey League (Arizona junior division) need me to be their coach. It's a big drain on my time.

If you think your table's surface is flat / sturdy enough, you could always saw out a big rectangle of it and construct a new air chamber for it to sit on (this time with structural supports in place so it doesn't bow). It could save you several, several hours drilling at least!
