Default Galerie F :: FugScreens Studios/Erin Page collaboration process

hey all, FugScreens back again for another collaboration print for the Galerie F Kickstarter campaign. if you haven't heard the word, i'm opening a printmaking and street art gallery/retail shop. check it out here.

The Launch of Chicago's GALERIE F by FugScreens Studios — Kickstarter

this time i'll be working with Erin Page of Kill Hatsumomo prints. this print will be exclusive to the kickstarter campign, not available elsewhere for purchase. she supplied a gorgeous pen and ink drawing, which i get to color and detail. still a work in progress, not too sure how many stencils we will end up with but they will be handdrawn opaque on film or cut rubylith.

here is the very revealing first layer, cut rubylith stencil.

using a salmon flesh-toned pink. doesn't it just look so tasty.

then the invisible print monster made some magic happen, and we end up with our first layer down. next up, little bitty circles.

    Default Third layer

movin' ahead at a breakneck speed. onto layer three, featuring more handdrawn stencils to frame erin page's portion of the print.

more teeny drawing, i have perfected the art of inconsistent spheres

and a wee star near the top

straight to business on layer three, a soft plum purple. definitely less vibrant colors than you're used to seeing from me but a varied color palette to come.

    Default Layers four to six

have three more layers to share. next three all handdrawn, start adding some detail and form to erin page's drawing

detail of the film, got some nice thin lines with a razor and a hell of a lot of Motorhead to keep me going

put down a muted orange, looking like there are at least three more layers left on this beast

then we've got another detail layer, going to be a dark red.

decided to switch it up, now we've got teeny X's as the teeny circles were gettin' stifling

and here it is, layer five down. also snuck in a gold layer to add some hair and glow to the star and headpiece.

    Default Layer seven!

Alright, we are at layer seven now and it looks like the key is next. Everything's starting to really take form, have another hand drawn stencil for ya

and a detail of the eyes and varied textures going on

chose a darker sage green for this, to make the eyes pop from the black key about to go down and give some body to those wiley snakes appearing

    stay tuned for the key!

sorry for the delay, a lack of internet at the shop can get hairy. so here are the films for the key, getting prepped for exposure and ready to print.

she's set in the press, going to lay down a metallic grey-black to pop out the muted tones from the first six layers
