    What mesh count should I look at to print 5mm high letters?

    230-305 depending on if you're using serifs and if you have a good positive to burn from.

    It's a pencil way to soft to print 5mm high letters.

    What typeface? By my math, 5mm should be 14pt, which isn't so small. If it's a bold sans-serif you are in good shape. Older serif designs at 14pt could be hard to reproduce faithfully, especially fine italics, but this is most likely not the case. The strokes of light sans-serifs at 14pt should be .5pt-ish wide which isn't the worst to print. Have you done much profiling with your screens, i.e. tests to see what kind of isolated dot and line you can hold at what mesh-counts? Just do some of those, figure out how thin the detail in your type is and you're good to go. Or not, if it's too fine. But at least you know.

    this is a print sample of 4-5 mm height letters on pvc. Consider if you'll print positive and not negative like me your definition will be better:
