had a friend do it ten years or more ago. half a million a dollars all long. which he played quake on line most of those days. his wife who hated computers and anything with them got certified makes a bunch of money too. if you can retain data you can pass the test. they got rich and bought fast cars and the brother in law sitting the house drove too fast and killed someone. they lost it all.
There are router simulation programs out there that are pretty useful. Combine those with some good books (O'Reilly series comes to mind, but there are many others) and you can make a good start. The point being whatever you can use besides signing up for a Cisco course will save you money. Maybe a lot of money.
