As a non-pro designer [do not work for a studio or make a living from my work] would like to suggest a thread on the main forum index for everyone in a similar situation to myself. Most of the stuff I design for people earns me little more the enormous self-satisfaction of making a poster and an occasional beer from my "clients!" My work is usually produced for friend's bands/events with print runs then conducted on photocopiers and/or laser printers (often covertly to avoid paying extortionate prices!) I think it would be great if there was somewhere that us "indy" designers could discuss ways to make a living from what we do/cheap printing/career tips etc etc!?!?! What does everyone think?!

Sounds cool to me. I'm still in the photocopier phase of my "career". It's been a lot of fun so far. And this site is really educational.

Time then to Unite?!! he he! Anyways, us cheap-rate designers keep the scene alive, I mean very few bands can afford pro-screen printing and stickers etc! And from the designer's POV, how often do you see big A2 screenprints stuck round towns/colleges etc. Surely the amateurs get as much, if not more, exposure?!...just not as much cash!

I can't wait til I become a design pro. I'm tired of all those self inflicted Exacto blade injuries I've been sustaining lately.
I'm assuming pros don't hurt themselves so often when they're working.
