So heres the cover that Charlie mentioned that I did for the Houston Press. It hit the streets today. What do you think? I did all the artwork, laid it out like they wanted, but as an afterthought (I think) they put that footer bar with text at the bottom, which kinda just throws the thing off a bit. Plus, I dont like the way they used the FIREHOUSE font in the '2002'...like, it just isnt right. Thats just my opinion.
They wanted a teddy bear, again.
    Like, Im trapped.

I kinda wanted the cover illo to stand alone...almost minimal...that text area at the bottom kinda distracts the whole thing...at least to me.

The 2002 seems a little distracting, but otherwise, it's dope. Way ta go!

okay, ive never seen an issue of this paper, so i dont know if they have a standard format for laying out the cover or what (we did at the Honolulu Weekly), but the layout, in so many levels, blows. type is awful. bad choices all around. the bar of crap on the left needs to go (but they may do this for every issue, which doesnt really make it better, but ...).

drawing is cool though jermaine. good publicity! just curious, how much did they pay you. i know they weekly i worked for wouldnt pay more than $50 for a cover illo, so needless to say, we never had anything good on our covers.

Wouldnt it have been cooler without that whole footer bar of text, period?
