Default hey chicagoans - remember when shellac played as the sex pistols?

it was 10 years ago today! ...at the beloved lounge ax. david yow performed as johnny rotten. the band (all in costume) seemed to have been in character the whole time. steve albini said something like "does anyone know where there's a party about?" in a british accent - and i believe only that. walking up lincoln ave. after the show i passed bob weston (sid vicious) and said "hey - great show" and he said "right" in a british accent.

shellac were awesome that night, and that show is one of my fondest memories of lounge ax, despite being pretty confused about what had just happend. david yow was so good.

a band called sixto played, and they were quite good. the singer started the show all crouched over and pulled out a bloody larva from his shirt (yuck). their album (self-titled on the stereo stereo label) is quite good. i think it was that show where they featured a ring-beauty (you know, like in boxing) holding up the names of the songs.

a band called missfits (a misfits coverband in full costume) opened the show. i think the singer from mt. shasta was playing in it?

    fun. was anyone else there?

Well that sounds like John Forbes--who's presently in Tijuana Hercules.
