Mayslacks in Minneapolis?

Mayslack's is known as a music venue... they have bands playing there all the time. Just not bands any of the local poster artists care for. Like usually more alt-country, rockabilly type stuff. They actually have pretty ok ads for their shows that have been done in the same style for as long as I can remember. Kinda 50's revue style b/w flyers.

The ladies bathroom is quite nice. They have good food. And it's in Northeast which is why I like it. Like walking distance from my house and Who Made Who. Northeast Minneapolis is an old working mans neighborhood and has the bars on every block to prove it. But it is also the Arts District of Minneapolis so there's lots of cool stuff around too.

Anyway they have a real stage and a sound guy if that means anything to you. Most people hang out in the main bar and the bands play in the side room, which is usually packed on weekends. Bands that play there tend to have trailers with their names painted on them. My friends band, Anchorhead, used to play there frequently before they broke up. I can't remember what it sounded like. It's that kind of a place.

Totally reputable music venue and a great place to eat meat. Good representation of what NE Minneapolis is all about.

for the record- Mayslacks is a pretty great neighborhood bar type place. felt real homey. the food was delish, and the Grain Belt was OK too. for the record- this place charges $6 for a Guiness, and 3.75 for a High Life. so watch yourself. the stage is small but sounds great, sound guy and staff was awesome.

also- Stones Throw in Eau Claire, WI is super nice. strange crowd, but courteous. staff was awesome and sound was OK. food was delish... cheese curds? OH MY!
