We're just sorting out how this is going to work. We want it to be successful so we can have a poster display every year. We'll probably have to sort out details on the fly as we go, but we really want to make this work out, so just let me know what would be ideal for you too.
We only have the full ballroom at the Holiday Inn on Thursday June 7, and that's the big Registration day when everyone drops in to pick up their passes. We have a stage and a bar set up in the same room as the Registration, plus exhibitors. We can give you a whole wall of the ballroom to hang your art on. It will be close to the stage. The hotel lets us put pins in their wall, or you can use that blue gummy tack stuff. We can give you tables and chairs too. There's no limit on the number of posters and artists, we've got lots of wall space to work with.
On Thursday everything starts at 11:30 am and it keeps going until 9 pm, but you wouldn't have to be there for the whole time. We used to tell the exhibitors to be there from noon until 6 pm, but then at 6 pm all the local media and music people who work in Toronto come by to pick up their passes, and the exhibitors were a little miffed that they were leaving as the line-ups were starting to build up again. There's a bit of a dead time in the middle of the afternoon, with line-ups in the morning when it opens and then after work. So you can sort out when to be there yourselves. If you have friends who want to come help, they don't need a pass to come check out the art and the exhibitors, it's all open to the public.
We want to limit the posters to be music and film specific - because this is a music and film festival. We would love it if each poster exhibitor would do an NXNE poster too. They would be collector's items. We allow the exhibitors to do retail sales from their tables, and certainly you can do the same. We can do sales for you on Friday and Saturday of the festival from our General Store (which is in the same room as all the rest of this stuff), but we would like to limit that to just a some of the posters. The NXNE poster and the posters of any band showcasing in the festival would be optimal.
And the store would need a percentage of the posters they sell. You can let me know what price you would charge and we can sort out something that works for both of us. Just a buck or two per poster would make the store people happy. We wouldn't take any percentage of the sales from the ones you guys do yourselves on Thursday.
What we would like from you - 5 copies of the NXNE posters you guys do for our own archives. Plus we'll give you a pair of NXNE full access passes for each poster artist. The passes are good for all the band showcases as well as the film screenings and the conference itself. Check out
