    Default Ryan August art show

I had a little one night art show last weekend. Some bands played. I sold a few posters. It was pretty entertaining.

The place had concrete walls, so we decided to prop the stage risers up and just hang everything on them instead. We secured them to the wall with some wire and hung everything up. As soon as the first band hit that rumbling e chord, all the frames just started falling down. It was hilarious. I guess when you have some sludgey doom metal bands play your art show, you better velcro that shit to the wall.

The evening ended with drunken battling in the parking lot. Always the best way to end an evening of drinking PBR out of the keg all night. It even got a write-up in the state newspaper's entertainment section:

"HANDS UP: Make that fists. At the Thank God, Monstro and Ryan August show at The Garage Saturday night, several fights erupted. A source tells us that loitering gutter punks started the fray and one of them had their dreadlock cut off."

    A few pics:

    Thank God:

Some shots I took of the crowd while I was walking around loaded all night.

There were bunch of "gutter" punk kids hanging around outside the show. $5 was too steep an admission price for them, I guess. They snuck in after the bands had finished up and were trying to steal the beers the guy at the place was selling for $1. He finally just got fed up with this one kid, so he pulls out this tiny, rusty swiss army knife. You know, the kind with like the 1 inch blade on it. He grabs the kid, saws off one of his dreadlocks with the shitty pocket knife and then throws him out the door. It was hilarious. One of the funniest things I have ever seen. I'm down with the punx, but those crusty beggars wearing $100 hot topic gear, get on my nerves.

    She's 102?!?!?

I don't know where anything is in South Carolina. I've lived in Columbia for almost 6 years now and I can still barely figure out how to get around this town. Not like there is anything to see anyways.
