i think there is a HUGE diffrence between a large jazz band playing without thier and and a 4 peice ounk band playing without thier frontman

keep in mind that many of the members of the arkestra have been playing together , non-stop for 50 +++ years

It'll be ok, but nowhere approaching what they were with Ra and the frontline sax section. Still fun to see, but not the real thing.

sun ra died before i was aware of free jazz and i feel that the arkestra can still hold up as a worthwhile band in their own right.
