Default Montrealers -- Proof that gigposters-ers can rock...

Whitey Houton, and the band that I play in, will be co-rocking a stage in Montreal soon...

    Thu - 09.15 C'Mon, Whitey Houston, The Adam Brown @ L'Hemisphere Gauche ($10) (221 Beaubien East)

Howdy gang -- I am absolutely thrilled to say that we're (The Adam Brown) opening up for two of my favourite bands right now. First, the mind melting, all-out rock 'n' roll assault of C'mon, who are quite possibly the best live rock band in Canada. C'mon is headed by Canadian rock 'n' roll incarnate, all-around super guy, and the man who changed the way I looked at music when I was a wee toddler, Ian Blurton (Change of Heart, Bionic, Blurtonia), and joined by Nashville Pussy alum. Katie Lynn Campbell, and Randy Curfew -- who was in the highly under-rated Blurtonia (their first album is a total experimental rock masterpiece, their follow-up, a raw but extremely catchy precursor to C'mon). Second, Whitey Houston, a bass-and-duo lunatic-rock combo (think DFA 1979, with more boogey, or Queens of the Stone Age with less ego). Or maybe just a super version, Voltron-style, of both. Anywho, the stomp quotient is high with these guys, and they put on a blast of a live show. They also just put out a fantastic, and really fun LP, which I recommend to everyone I know. Oh, and Whitey is a really nice guy. I'm thinking that the rock quotient will be quite high -- we've been cooped-up and busy recording a full-length, so hopefully that will translate to an urgent show. Anywho, on to the business:

    C'mon - http://www.thisiscmon.com

MP3s: - from the just released In the Heat of the Moment
C'Mon - This is Yr Captain (fierce tune from the new album -- KILLER SOLO)
C'Mon - I Got a Fever (a real groover -- boogie rock from the new album)

    Whitey Houston - http://www.whiteyhouston.com

MP3s: -- you can actually hear their entire album on their website!
Whitey Houston - Liarbird (catch the chorus on this fucker!)
Whitey Houston - I Got Fucked by Liberty Mutual (real fun tune)

    The Adam Brown - http://www.theadambrown.com

MP3s: -- just demos. Real versions on an album soon-ish.
The Adam Brown - Give Back My Heart (demo)
The Adam Brown - Hungry Thirsty (demo)

Video: (in honour of the rock assault...here is our 'Big Rocker')
The Adam Brown - Big Rocker (live video)

and if you're in my neck a' the woods on the weekend(sept.17,1, C'MON, whitey houston and brutal knights will be blowin' the doors off the rivoli saturday night and sunday afternoon.
i myself, am planning on checkin' out the sunday show, 'cause death from above and tricky woo are playing together on saturday. although, right now i'm not sure where. it was supposed to be at the ex, and now it's either the phoenix or the opera house. ? i guess i'll just keep checking the websites... so much rock, so little weekend.
