    Default On Another Plane

Sometimes people get a chance to see artists that are clearly working on, clearly, another (read:elevated) level.

Please post tales of situations where you felt you were watching ledgendary greatness...

This weekend I was privileged to see Gillian Welch & David Rawlings play for free in Farmville, VA. The crowd was predominantly 18yo fraternity and sorority pledges attending Longwood College who had little to no care in the world for her or her music. However, Gillian Welch came on stage quietly with her guitar, approached the mic and started to play a few chords, and let out a "Heeeyyy, hhheeaaayy..." with this indescribable voice, and I then witnessed close to a thousand people simultaneously shut the fuck up and pay attention, because her voice was so arresting...

She quickly realized the attention she had raised, and continued on to sing, "Heeeyyy, heeeaaayyy... this is the sound-check"

Needless to say, the show was one of the best I've ever seen... certain songs gave me the shivers for their entire duration.
