How do I number printing 2 up of 2 variants

Hopefully this doesn't open up a can of shitstorm... I've been reading up on numbering editions here and have found alot of answers to questions I had and even questions I now realize I should have had.

But I have a kind of specific situation:

I've got a poster I want to print 2up x 50. But the funky part is I want to print 2 versions of the same poster at the same time. They use the same colors - kind of like a reverse of eachother.

    How would I number that?
I was thinking I could do the dark ones 1/50 v1.
And the light ones 1/50 v2.
But that doesn't tell you they were on the same run. Or does that matter?
I usually don't get this anal over this stuff, but it seems like this is an important thing to people and I'd rather not piss off the collectors (cuz I have so many ) Nah, I just wanna know anybodies thoughts on this.

ok so just simply 1/50 for each. (There will be 100 in all - 50 light - 50 dark)

I did the same thing for a lecture poster I did a year or so ago. 50 where silver was the dominant color, 50 where blue was. I felt they were all part of the same edition, so I numbered them 1/100 with all the silvers odd numbers and blues evens.

hmmmm that's cool. Didn't think of the even/odd thing... that's alot of math but I think I can handle it.

    Thanks guys!

Oh and Jesse - just saw who you were. I've always loved that Little Ones album cover!
-yes scrojo - you rule, too.

see, in record collecting, it just goes by color for the most part. There is a pressing plant where you can get super cheap records if you use the left over vinyl. So someone will press a record and get 245 copies back, but there might be /8 light blue, /24 dark blue, /27 midnight blue, until you fill up all /250. They're all first press, but multiple variants and numbered. I haven't looked into numbering for posters yet, but just sayin' that's how we do it when records get pressed.

They are variants so they each have their own edition. The way they are printed doesn't effect the way they are numbered. Do what Scrojo said.

Instead of numbers, just draw runes, since no one gives a shit anyways.

So I'm starting to get the big picture now...
When in doubt do what Scrojo says, when you don't give a shit do what Richie says.
