someone gave me a small piece of a misprint from Landfall Press that was over 100 colors.
it felt like an oil painting

Right, ultimately when we're done you won't be able to tell the difference between the source and the print. Except the print is 40% larger and cleaner.
We're about 12 colors in now. Still bare bones.

Jeez louise how many of the first screen did you pull?? And -- just curious -- does this commission have like a 10% under/over run provision, or do you pretty much have to nail 375?

I used to do four or five editions like this a year. The end result can be pretty spectacular. It's hardly a waste if everyone is happy in the end.

No I'm under contract to deliver exactly that amount. We always print extras to make sure. 75 of this edition is on canvas and they want progressive proofs of the edition.

If there are extras then PPs and APs get made. Everything else gets destroyed. I don't charge for the extras, but they aren't guaranteed.
