to halftone or not to halftone?

Hi. Did a bit of digging through threads and couldn't quite find this addressed, though I learned a helluva lot about doing halftones!

I have some line art that's a pen sketch, there's some very detailed parts -- cross hatching with a ball-point size pen, basically.

I've got some 230 mesh screens, printing to paper. Can you get away with just laying a transparency of the drawing or is it best to do halftones? Would cross-hatched, darker parts basically turn to a solid color without halftones?

can you post a pic?
I'm guessing it would look like crap halftoned,
but you could scan it in, halftone it, and judge for yourself

especially if you're blowing it up from the original.
