i am short on time on a project and considering having someone print some editions for me. they say they need to run 100 to get 50 acceptable prints. is this reasonable?

50% loss is never acceptable.

that must be a really crappy shop or your art must be really hard to print or if it's 10 or 20 colors.

is there a split fade in your art?

i recently told daniel danger that if he wanted 175 perfectly good 25-30 color prints we would need to print about 225-250 and in reality he'd end up with 200 or so good prints and 50 that are slightly out of reg or used for color testing.

in 99.9% of all print jobs we've done we have never charged for an over run, our pricing was originally calculated on having a 10% over run done per job in case of rejects.

you should be charged for the number of good prints you receive.

100% over-run is absurd, unless (see andy's post above)
