a properly exposed screen and properly washed screen should not have any residue, therefore not even necessary to blot with newsprint. get the right exposure. what kind of exposure unit are you using? sunlamps will not properly expose the emulsion.

on the emulsion applicator there are two sides to dispense emulsion from the tray. they have different heights. make sure you are using the thinner side so you are not over emulsioning your screens.
