Haven't been around in a while, but this one is a bit or a brain buster for me and I could use some help from GP. I was following Richie's Sim Process guide, but I'm not sure it can be entirely applied here.
Customer wants this image
screenprinted on the back of a navy blue t-shirt. My problem is that I only have five heads to work with (head 6 is a heater), and I can't seem to get this separated and have it not look like a bunch of blue blobs. Original image is high res.
Question for the seasoned vets is whether this is even do-able, before I call the client and tell them we can't do it with our equipment.

customer wont accept halftones?
couldnt you just print white and maybe 1 spot blue to make all of those hues?

Probably the easiest way to reduce the colors is to live trace it in Illustrator. It will be a bit blobby but I ran a test and you could still make everything out:

since it's going on a navy shirt, my advice is to really focus on your underlay. with the right underlay you can print that image mostly with cyan and 1-2 spot blues.

Use the shirt color as the darkest blue (if ok with customer) I wouldn't even bother with an underbase being that the lightest color still has a blue tone to it. I see five different shades of blue if you can use the shirt color to make up the darkest, I would do this as a spot color sep, simulated process seems like it would be more trouble than it needs to be, and it would not lend anything positive to the print.
