Default Darkening Xeroxes Question

I tried putting clear gloss spray varnish on photocopies to darken them for use as positives and it seemed to work - not tried exposing yet.

The Toner Darkener spray that you can get for the same purpose - will it make it much darker than the varnish or is it the same thing? Cheers

i think it's not the darkening of the toner that you're worried about, as much as the transparenting of the paper, which can be done, as mentioned above, with cooking oil.

what a mess.

Only if you're sloppy.

I've also doubled up the copies to make dark dark dark black.

i'd say it's actually about the ratio of opaqueness of the black to transparency of the background - the bigger the difference, the easier it should be to burn.
