Hey all - here's some process shots of some prints I made recently.



The way I work is that I draw/print the first layer and then take that print to the light table and draw the next layer on top of it - then I print again and draw the next layer. This way of working has completely eliminated the computer from my process and has given my prints a much more organic and richly textured look (I think).

Anyway - here's a print of the first layer...

Also - there are 3 prints in this suite so the pics jump around a bit. All 3 prints have 7 screens used - six of the colors are the same on all three and each one has a unique split fountain.

I use that first layer as sketch of what I think the final layer will look like - it helps me map out the colors in the following layers but by printing it in a light color (in this case green) I am also able to change things around if I decide to

Okay - so apparently I didnt take photos of screen #3 (which was a deep royal blue) - but after printing that one - I did split fountains for all three prints. Each blends different colors - but they all worked out nicely and stayed consistent throughout the edition -

Next layer was a transparent "peacock blue" - in order to get the texture seen in the print below I use older markers instead of my rapidographs - I'll use a beat up sharpie chisel tip to get the effect seen in the drawing below the print:
