so, here's the deal.

the subject matter is lame. that's sort of been covered.

your drawing ability is "ok"...but you're young, so there's nothing wrong with that.

but, your printing ability...well, if you can print that well, with a splitfountain and everything, you've got a leg up on A LOT of artists around here.

just keep on trucking with everything.

On this site he has access to arguably the largest talent pool of screenprinters and artists on the internet. Part of that access is the trial by fire critiquing that goes along with it, and it's not even particularly brutal at that.

I've put up with way worse shit from this crowd over the past few years and I like to think my work is that much better for it - in fact, probably light years better than it would be without it. GPB should be less butthurt and more proactive in taking some of the excellent advice I've seen posted here.

Ok, I just set up a photobucket with all this stuff on it. Sorry it took so long, I was having a pretty crazy week and wanted to finish all the shirts before I posted pix. They might be out of order on Photobucket though

Day one

Day two

Later (within the hour) I'll have the actual pix up on GP

These are all from the first batch of shirts I did a little over a week ago

test shirt for registration

how we tape screens. we cover the vertical edges of the fram touching the screen for bigger jobs.

the press. 8 heads, all with micro registration (which was the coolest thing I had ever used after printing posters for a year).

coolest coffee mug ever (i have two)

inks

mixing the yellow for the split fount on a screen we're not using for any jobs

more mixing

i mixed the red on the actual screen. this is the first split fount I've ever attempted on t-shirts, and we hardly ever mix colors, so it was tedious to mix two colors, get them on the same screen, then make a smooth gradient. i did it though.

squeegees

test shirt, first split fountain print

not bad, but it could use a few adjustments

second test print = much, much better

first actual t-shirt

cool overprint

just tried printing the actual wolf, but the placement is pretty far down on the shirt. i printed the rest of the shirts with no split fount w/ a little ring, continuing the circle.

that ring mentioned above. no tape needed cuz i'm a badass

eyeballed registration woo. since there are two layers of black, i put the screens next to each other and used the same squeegee for each layer

awe yea for the navy
