Hi guy's. Newbie here.
I've been doing some screen printing at uni over the past couple of years and I have finally decided to buy a starter kit from Dalier Rowney, which consists of:
Ready stretched screen 54 x 41cm (21 x 16") with wooden frame and a high quality mesh.
Heavy duty Squeegee 275mm (10.8")
5 tubes of acrylic system 3 75ml (Vermillion, Ultramarine, Process Yellow, Process Black and Titanium White).
System 3 250ml Textile Printing Medium.
System 3 250ml Screen Printing Medium.
System 3 237ml Removable Screen Block.
System 3 75ml Drawing Fluid.
But in the instructions it says to use a soft pencil and paint in the areas I want to print with the drawing fluid and paint over with removable screen block.
I have been taught how to print using photo sensitive emulsion by my lecturer but he isn't around for a couple of weeks so I thought the best place to ask would be here.
I was wondering what supplies I need to do this and if anyone knows any suppliers i can get them from (either online in the UK or around Bristol)?
you probably wont be happy with the drawing fluid method. Get some photosensitive emulsion, and a big bright light
Thats what I'm after.
Would I need some emulsion and screenwash?
Any particular products/brands I should get?
And when it comes to lights. What should I look for?
Here's a little tip the pros don't want you to know about: Always lick your squeegee between pulls. It helps ink adhesion. THANK ME LATER!
Tom, Never printed in his life
Good to see some more UK folks about.
I think Jackknife are based in Bristol, and they print all their stuff. It would probably be a good idea to get in touch with them..... they will know the ropes.
I think so too. Bought a screen print from the last Explosions in the Sky gig in Bristol.
