Any good art instructor teaches their students to ignore the status quo. I sign wherever I damn well please.

Nobody bothers with the title though. Or rarely anyway. Front or back. Sometimes doing it on the front kinda F's up a clean print.

I sign my photographs with my real name. All other art is signed with my pseydonym.

any good art instructor teaches their students the rules, so the students can break the rules later.

and yes, you can sign your prints wherever you damn well please.

I used to number left, sign right, but that takes too long, so now I number and sign on the right.

Also I edition the minute I'm done printing so it's over and done with quickly. If I put it off I'll often not bother and I'm stuck signing at sale time.
