    Chief,

Some of the lacquer I personally bought new dates from the mid-90's and it's just fine. Some of the stuff that's been thinned/retarded/sharp printing compound added has gotten a bit lumpy... the worst part is that NazDar discontinued the DL (decal lacquer) series, and only has the 7200 series, which isn't quite as flexible. I also use Ink Dezyne lacquers but they got swallowed up by NazDar I think. I don't care for the huge companies... less choice, you know?

What's the Candoc stuff like? I saw it online somewheres...

And like I said, check out McLogans, they've got an PDF catalog online, but you has to call to order. They've been pretty good to me over the years, even though they're in ink-unfriendly So Cal.

The laquers don't skin if you keep them closed as I remember. Just add more laquer thinner to reduce, butylcellusolve as retarder.

Britains is the brand of the decal paper, they use a lot of it in the ceramic decal process.

Of all the inks we used, laquer was pretty easy, prints beauty detail. We did tons of waterslides for modellers, and museums making replica decals for restored case tractors and farmers friend threshing machines. We did some for various motorcycle tanks too, Indian, Norton, etc.

Andy, you're on gigposters. No need to apologize for thread-hijacking.

I'm still interested. Heading out of town next week for drag racing fun, back the week after.

And the calendars rock. It's already the 1st of Stainboy here at the Mysterion Towers.

Thanks much for the heads up on McLogans, Jim. I don't have any info on the Candoc ink other than their SS series is good for waterslide decals. I just need something that'll go down thin and opaque.

Andy, I'm considering your 9" x 12" precision lab press as a step-up when I get rolling. Would you recommend this for my application? What size frames work with this press? I figure I'll start with regular clamps and see how far I can push the registration, but I foresee needing precision adjustment to get the kind of registration my designs require. Your precision clamps may be what I need, since they could be used with bigger projects. Thanks for all your great information!
