Just a quick question... how's the opacity of the Speedball acrylic on chipboard? I'd rather not have to double print 5 colors... or would it be an idea to do an underbase, white, clear, whatever to seal the absorbent stock?
Thanks...

Ask Ravi, he'll know about chipboard.
these are chipboard with speedball acrylic
It held the color very well for me. I don't think you would need an under base layer. Everything I have printed on chipboard has worked very well.
One pass should work fine.
yeah. I like the way that speedball hits on chipboard, looks nice

For me, it depends on the size of the color you want to lay down. I sometimes have to make two passes for larger areas, like the bottom portion of this print I make two passes. For everything else one,... Chipboard is the only substrate I use for numbered prints. Canvas and fabric are fun too.

It doesn't drink the up ink like you'd think it would nor do you get much spread/dot gain.
I love printing on the stuff. Knock yourself out.
Cool.
But I think I'll do better fully conscious. Tough to register looking at the inside of your eyelids. Don't ask how I know this.

most speedball inks are surprisingly opaque, unless you are using their process inks, which are transparent by nature. i've always gotten away with one pull on chipboard.
too bad un surfaced chipboard is the least archival and most acidic substrate there is...with the exception of newsprint maybe. should not be used for art prints.
