Here's the 2 pdf files for download (thanks Scott)

http://monsterpress.ca/gigposters/

the small one called road test is the article, which you might find interesting if you ever wondered what the difference between different film types/output devices looks like. And no, I didn't try oiling a paper print. Sorry.

The larger film image file is a pdf of the test screen. You may find this usefull for testing not only your ability to expose/print fine detail, but it will also work as a good test film to do step wedge exposure testing. maybe make two so you have a bigger image to mask.

Let me know if this is useful to anyone.

Andy, should the areas that appear as solid black in the PDF print out as really dark grey halftone? That's what my printer is printing.

It shouldn't be doing that. What printer? Are you printing from photoshop? Give us a rundown of your equipment and film, might help.

Black is black (type and line samples), the ovals are halftones. this probably needs to be printed with a rip, set your image resolution to highest output, and your halftone to 45-65 depedning on what you think you can print.

Tom, as a premium member, go into the Premium discounts section and click on the blueprints plans etc thread. Not sure why Scott's hosting doesn't work, but if you go to the bottom Mark Forsman (Windflame) has them stashed. the file you want is filmtestnew i think.

Bobby Dixon did a similar one, it's probably in there in another thread too.
