Default laser jet film: 1 sheet of vellum or 2?

how is anyone else exposing screens using single sheets of whatever from home? i have had good results with doubling up vellum or copier safe transparencies but that s#!t gets ex$pensive! once in a while 1 sheet will work but it's a crap shoot and there's nothing worse than going through all the steps of prepping a screen and then having to clean it off and re- emulsify it again, a major time drain!! help.

I've never done this because it seem too messy, but a fine art student at a poster show told me about taking copies from kinkos or where ever and dipping them in cooking oil, thus rendering them "transparent" then using those as a very cheap way of turning paper into vellums of some sort......
