Default Single white ink on Black tee-shirt

Has anyone ever just painted white textile ink onto a black tee-shirt with a paint brush? Does it work OK?? I'm looking to make a quick single tee for a halloween costume. I was thinking about making a stencil and painting through it. If I knew how I'd screen print it.

i've used limited amounts of acryclic painted on to fabric. if its just a one time halloween thing and it doesnt matter about washing and stuff i'd try that. textile ink might be more trouble than its worth.

although it seems like a stencil would be a good idea any time i've tried it while working with paint or ink (even with the most delicate touch!) it smudges all over the place.

better idea: go to staples and buy the color iron on transfers. cut out what you want from the transfer and iron it on. the avery color ones are like a really opaque rubber that will bond with the fabric and are washable. they're not the same as shitty regular iron on transparencies.

screenprinters feel free to laugh now... i used the words "iron on transfers".

but seriously its quick and looks bright and you can do some intricate stuff.

We don't have any Staples here. Do you know the brand name of the "rubber" iron on transfer material. If I go to like Office Max or someplace and ask I'm sure it'll be the crappy stuff.
