Scotch 371 clear tape . . . .
Scotch 371 clear tape . . . .
I've never understood why people use masking tape instead of clear packaging tape. Five years ago, before I took over managing the shop I work at the former manager used masking tape. All the screens were gummy messes of garbage. Masking tape soaks up plastisol ink and makes the ink a crusty mess. Waterbased ink, I would think, would just dissolve the masking tape. Clear packing tape costs the same amount and the ink just scrapes/wipes right off it. Masking tape is silly. Use clear packing tape. I've been using Office Max store brand packaging tape. Of all the tape I've tried it leaves the least adhesive behind when removed. Duck brand packaging tape was the worst.
Agreed.
And I would think it would be pretty hard for the squeegee to glide over the ink edge of some rough tape. I think the shit we use is branded 'tartan' and i get it at the superstore. cheapest stuff seems to come off easiest.
and one more time for those who have problems with tape sticking and leaving messes behind....when you get to reclaim, flip the screen over and wet the backside. let it sit for a minute while you pick your nose or check your messages....then turn it over and peel. the water wets the stencil, and the tape releases easy and comes off.
Don't leave tape on screens, even if you are going to reuse them, or you will have problems down the road.
Will def have to try the packing tape..
I never understood why people use tape at all.
I don't like washing ink down the drain.
