Yes, printing trans black colors over the keyline definitely seems to leave that glossiness you described. I think the trick is to either print it just before the keyline, or sep the transparent black in a way where the glossiness won't be obtrusive or problematic (for example, leaving significant portions of the keyline showing through, having shadows butt up against--but not on top of--the key, etc.). I printed some trans shadows over one of the keylines in a recent art print, and you can only really notice the glossiness over the key when really examining it. If I take a few steps back, it's really not noticeable at all.
I think the glossiness can kind of be cultivated in a way, too. It's little things like that which can make screens prints more fun to look at.
