We just use cheapy 20# bond paper (either drawing on it directly, or the oversize B&W printouts at the copy shop) and adjusted our burn time accordingly. No films, no plastic, no gross oil messes. Eventually we'll probably graduate to films, but for now this is working...and I don't think it could possibly get any cheaper.

We've successfully refilled black pens with a syringe. Do you think there is something special in the kimopakes or is it just red ink?

I have used Golden carbon black before and it produces a really crisp opaque mark, but it applies pretty thick which can be tricky.
Was thinking of trying my rottring rapidos on tracing paper, not sure if I'll have any success though.
