your paper recomendations

Can anyone recomend a good solid easy to find paper for poster printing, I seem to use different paper all the time and want to buy a large quantity of a good basic printing paper. any recomendations would be great. I also hate the paper that has the torn edges and would like to avoid that because of the pain of registration and I dont have a great space for cutting down my paper. Thanks people, and remember I put my pants on just like everyone else, but once they are on, I make golden dueces

Lewis paper or Xpedex for non archival commercial paper.

Go to Lewis paper.
French is nice for colors but it is boutique paper at a boutique price.
It is needlessly expensive if you are looking for white.

Cougar 100# White is good.
I like Wausau bright white cover 80# for posters because once you've acclimated it it is very resistant to distorting, and messing with your registration. Better in this regard than Cougar.

Both of those are stock items at Lewis so you can get whatever quantity you want, cut to order (from a 23x35 parent sheet)
Cost like 1/3 as much as French.

Just a note about French paper. I think that it is a discredit to French Paper Co to credit their cost simply as "boutique price." Yes, the paper is more expensive than most, but they are the LAST independently owned paper mill in the United States, they are 100% hydroelectric, and if you call or write them you actually get a reply from a person, most likely someone with the last name of French. There is cost involved with that.

I'm not beefing with French at all; I use their products all the time and think the company is awesome in every respect. Have toured their mill and it is inspiring to say the least.

OTOH I frequently talk to printers who simply use French as a matter of course for everything, because someone on GP plugged it and they were unaware that there is anything else. Or, they are afraid of anything they have to go pick up from a warehouse with dudes driving forklifts around and using lingo, rather than something they can order with three clicks on the internet, and pay shipping on top of a higher price.

That's all I'm sayin'.
