Aluminum screen leaking water...yay!

Anyone have aluminum screens from Ryonet that fill up and then leak water while you are trying to print? I can't seem to find and holes/cracks, but man is this a pain in the ass. I think the screen has been used twice since I purchased it.

They are probably filling up with water during the developing process or reclaiming. Just drill some holes in the frame to let the water out before setting up.

I've had this happen with screens from Pocono Screen Supply and Victory Factory. Sometimes there's not enough in there to notice, but then during exposure the vacuum sucks the water out and fucks up the unexposed emulsion. Not a good thing. Other times its enough water to hear it sloshing around in there.

Nope. Just washing out with a hose. I'll have to borrow a better drill. As mine did not want to drill through it. It was more fun as I was on press about to print the final color on a poster job that needs to ship today when it started leaking. I had to waste extra sheets throughout the run as I was out of time. Is this a regular problem with aluminum frames? First time I've had the problem, but not sure if I should try and get the manufacturer to replace it.

It is not a normal problem with aluminum frames. I have two styles of frames. One is completely welded with no holes which I get from Victory Factory. I have never had water get into these. The other type has large slots cut into them to fit on an old archaic press that I no longer have. The frames with slots cut in them have open ends to let the water drain out. I have never had an issue on press from these frames leaking water.

I cut large holes in my frames then fill them with cement to keep this from happening.

Poke hoes in your mensch. Frames of good quality desire hoes to have drainage therefore superior printing #1 in quality. Hoes in frames keep wetness off screen.
