Printing Large Without A Table

Hello Everyone.

The time has come to attempt to print large. Going to try and print 5 by 5 feet or so. Have to order the mesh next week on payday, construct a large finshed pine frame and staple the guy. I was just wondering if any of the members here have done this before without a table.

I would imagine we are going to print on the floor. A couple of concerns. First of all there is the concern of holding the canvas to the ground. And secondly the problem of off contact. I have thought of possibly screwing some hinge clamps into the concrete floor and just putting the screen in the hinges.

If anyone has done this and can share a practical way it would be much appreciated. Ive tried to research printing like this but havent seen too much on it.

^yep. are you doing more than one color? it's easier than you think... except for the squeegee pull. that part sucks

The rest will be painted over. I got a dude that might come over and help/

Id really hate to build a huge vacuum table, but am thinking about it.
Dont really have room for a 30 square foot printing table lol.

That was the first clip I saw that actually showed the process.

I may actually do a Youtube video when get it down pat.
Also I am about to get an overhead projector and enlarge freehand some stuff to canvas.
Its nice to try and experiment and try new stuff. Trying to get off just paper printing and
do some outrageous stuff. Like Andymac said in another thread. Once you get hooked on
printing you always want to do bigger.

could you use spray adhesive to hold the canvas to the concrete floor?

Your biggest problem is that your floor will not be level even if it appears to be. There is no need for hinges and also no real need to hold the canvas down unless you are printing a giant flat of color. There also is probably no need for lift either. We do this sort of thing every month and the biggest challenge is finding an absolute level surface.

Buy a big sheet of MDF board and put that on the floor?
