Switchin' to Murakami Photocure PRO

So I'm switching from Autosol XL to Murakami Photocure Pro because it's a little easier for me to get (and my local dood sells it in quarts which is ideal for me.)

I've got one of these T-shirt Printing Screen Exposure Unit - Entry Level Silkscreen Exposure Unit and I currently expose a yellow 305 mesh screen for about 8 minutes using the Autosol.

The instructions for the Murakami comes with a really great little exposure chart but it's only for the metal halide lamps. So the question is, what's a good place to start using the UV blacklight tubes? Is there some conversion I can do?

I'm at 17min with the Murakami, but I shoot with 2 500w halogens at about 26" onto 230s with true film so that's probably no help.

Best bet is a step test. Crosshair told me that when he converted to Murakami his exposure time went up...

i just switched from the speedball crap to MURAKAMI Aquasol HV Emulsion. using a single photo flood bulb. any ideas on exposure time before I fuck up 5 screens?

if you do research into exposure calculators, you can't fuck up more than 1 screen. voltage spikes, lamp age, stencil thickness etc etc affect exposure length, so same bulbs and same emulsion in different shop usually means different exposure.

With two 500 watt halogens, I was getting 16-17 minute exposures with offensively good detail. This is quite a jump from the four minutes I was getting with QTX. I don't have a fluorescent unit like that, but you can bet your time with probably go up with the Photocure Pro. An awesome thing about that emulsion is that it seems to have a pretty generous window for getting a great exposure and stencil. Doing a step wedge test would help quite a bit, as has been mentioned, but you may find that you'll get usable exposures within a one or two (or more) minute window.

I have the same Ranar unit and my exposures are 3.5 minutes with Murakami Photocure Pro (2 coats per side, wet on wet) with frosted mylar film on 305 yellow screens

Best thing I ever did was buy an exposure calculator. Then you can change emulsions and mesh with ease.

Erica, you weren't kidding. This stuff is THE JAM. I've never had a screen washout so perfectly...I didn't know it could be like that...
