Printing on Handmade Cotton Paper

Hey ya'll,

I'm planning on screen printing some thank you notes on nice, handmade paper. The print would only be a single color, but the paper is made from cotton, so it is quite textured, thick, etc. Does anyone have any experience printing on handmade cotton paper?

I've been told it requires a relatively low mesh count? Is this true? What mesh count would be best?

I would print with a lower mesh, something like 200ish maybe? Depending on the amount of detail, a looser screen would be best.

Hit the paper with a clear workable fixative before printing and let it dry. That will help "close the pores" on the paper a bit and you won't have to worry about bleeding. Speedball does well on handmade/fibrous papers. Choose your mesh count according to the amount of detail.
