Moire on film . . .

OK, this is a new one to me. I'm getting some really wicked Moire appearing on my film . . . Here are the specs:

Epson 7600 Dye Ink
2880 Super Photo resolution

50 LPI
22.5 degree angle

Accufast Film

About 3 months ago I upgraded from an Epson 3000 with a RIP, to the 7600 without a RIP (Bitmap technique) but other then that, nothing has changed in my setup.

The Moire is incredibly noticeable because the art is a pretty smooth radial gradient.

Since it's on the film, I know it's not halftone vs thread count moire, or moire generated from the threads of the shirt weave.

Anyone got any ideas? Is there something I should click or unclick in the printer prompts?

I have a very long explanation for this but I must feed my daughter.

Try 52° or 82° and see what happens.

I re output at 45LPI, at 52.5 degrees w/ a round halftone dot.

Seems that most of the moire is gone . . . there's a bit on one of the films, but nothing like the last time . . .

My old 3000 used to shit the bed at 65lpi . . all the halftones looked like SS lightning bolts . .

If you think it's a problem with halftone interpretation, you can download ghostrip and install a dummy hp postscript printer. Print to file with the dummy printer, open the file in ghostrip and print to your 7600. That's what I do. I don't know that it will help the moire, though. I haven't had any problems on a 7600 printing 55lpi/25 degrees.
