looking for a semi auto press?

A friend has found a pair of older but supposedly good condition ATMA 800 presses in Ohio. this is short notice, but he is going to try and go there on this Fri or Sat to see them run and possibly purchase one. So the other is available.

These are precision 2 pole presses, (ask Laura Stalions if Atmas are nice...this is the brand that apple bought to make the touch screens on iphones and ipads in their overseas factories, definitely not your grandma's Filbar or your grandpa's Cameo....) apparently in good working order, at a real good price (around $2,500 ea)

require 240 v and air.

Rental truck with a lift gate, rental pallet jack, 2 friends who want to go on a road trip = done.

The owners have a forklift and can load it onto a truck for you... the press weighs 980lbs so you'll have to figure out how to get it back off your truck. I plan to rent a moving truck and have them load the press on it for me and then get help getting it off once I drive it back. I am in Ashland, KY. If you decided you want one we could maybe figure out a way to share the rental truck costs and ride together. 2 of these will fit in the back of a 10ft. U-Haul.

980 lbs is nothing. Look into letterpress moves, there's fucks of information around. I moved a 2500 pound letterpress alone from ground level to truck to basement (bad idea, but it happened.) Build a solid pallet for it, go with a huge crowbar to lift it up corner by corner, get it up on blocks, transfer it to 4 lengths of 2x4 supported far enough out so that you can slide the pallet under it, then lower it and remove the 2x4s. They can fork it onto a flatbed, you can rent/buy a pallet jack to move it around at the other end. What's the other end like? Dock level? Nice, big ground level door?

Might cost you $1000 to move it but still a good deal.
