Question about registration tabs

Anyways, I am thinking about making my own registration tabs out of plastic. Have seen that most of them are in the shape of an E. Was just wondering if you are supposed to lift the middle tab up and leave the side two down or how these contraptions work?

That sounds like too much work and too slow. I take a piece of plastic and glue a large flap of and film underneath. The film flap thing is so I never have to worry about anything sliding underneath my reg tab.

Get sticker vinyl, stick it together 4 or 6 layers thick. Cut into squares with a ruler. Care of andymac (I think.)

i've been using the labeling tape from dymo for my registration tabs for 18 years now & i have never found anything better so far.

the glue that is on the dymo tape is pretty strong and dosn't move when printing.

keep it in the plastic ring, cut off when needed, stores nicely, replace when needed.

What's wrong with the little metal dealies? Get three and make sure you put them away when done and you'll have em for ever.

anything really hard will eventually rip your screen if you are printing over it hundreds of times with your squeegee. Kiss of death on an auto. I always tape over my tabs after I've set my register, partly to make sure they don't pop off, and partly to make the corners softer. I've had too many big screens with little pinholes right where the tabs are.

Tab should never stick up proud of the paper or material being printed.

The E's I made out of flashing work well. The middle section is just crimped up a tiny bit for the paper to slide in. The end sections get taped down so the paper doesn't go underneath them. Only had a couple instances of them wearing emulsion on long runs, but that's what tape is for.
