Trouble with printing halftones (w/image)

New to the forums asking for some advice.
(Posted this in Anything Goes but I think the post is more relevant here....newb move)

Doing a 2 color print and having some trouble with my halftone. I'm getting some bleeding out of my halftones all over the print. It starting bleeding out on the second print but like 4-5 in I got a really nice pass that had little/no bleeding out.

Any suggestions to avoid this?

little less ink in your flood....more off contact on your screen....those just come to mind.

What would you say is a good starting point for off contact?

I can't see your image, but whenever this happens to me it's because I've flooded it too much, as Justin suggested.

Sometimes a stiffer ink can help as well. An open mesh will do this too if you flood for too long.

We used to start with 1/8th off contact for 40x40 screens. Depends on the tension of your mesh.

Coating style too..... aaaaah the options!

230 mesh screen. I did 2 coats each side. Coated print side of screen first twice and the ink side twice second. Print is 16x25 and my screen's mesh area is 20x27.

a couple paint stir sticks space between your hinges / frame and board is usually pretty good place to start.

And go premium.

Yup. Get that screen up off the paper. Less ink on the screen.

I did have my screen off the paper a bit. I used a nickel on each side to raise the screen up. Guess I'll use a few nickels on each side

Less angle on the squeegee to put less ink down when flooding?
