Discharge inks on Black Shirts

I think I am gonna mess around with some discharge inks.

I wanna just print on some black tees with discharge - see what effects I can get. Any tips or pointers before I start?

I have a standard flash dryer and a conveyor dryer - I heard you have to heat the hell out of the shirt to get the 'ink' to remove the color of the ink. Will it work with your standard set up? Anyone had success / cool results?

I'm assuming you have wb discharge base and an activator, mix pigments into the base and activator to discharge colours, don't mix in wb ink. you'll need to slow your conveyor down lots, it needs to spend a good 45 seconds at 320 in my experience, you'll tell when it's discharged though.

Its tough to get right with electric dryers, or anything shorter than 10' heat chamber. Besides that, once you get the hang of it the prints come out much crisper/brighter than plastisols or straight waterbase. Make sure to wash out your screens after printing, similar to any waterbased ink it will dry in your screen and eat your emulsion.

If you have an electric dryer with a good airflow control on it and a 10 foot chamber, you might be ok. Worst case scenario would be that you have to pass your garments through the dryer 2 or 3 times.
