    Default Hanging prints on clothesline

    Hello.

Good morning, good evening, where/whenever you are.

To all those out there who hang their prints to dry on clotheslines, what sort of clips do you use or can recommend? Looking for something that wont crease or dent the paper. If you could point me in the direction it would be appreciated.

    Ciao.

I feel like this depends a lot on the stock in question, since softer stocks will bruise even with the softest clips.

    Try normal clothespins?

Tried using normal on 65 lb paper and creased it badly. Perhaps should move up to 88# or coverstock.

I've though about hanging several clotheslines side by side and making sort of shevles out of them, but it takes up alot of unnecessary room.

Would like to do runs of 90 at a time if possible.

You'd probably be okay with 100# cover, but another option is to put pieces of chipboard, or another stock to "blanket" your actual prints from contact with the pins. Even with the strongest clip, two pieces of chipboard would distribute the pressure from a single point, and prevent a mark.

I wouldn't print on anything lighter than 80#, but that's just me.

I used to use regular wooden clothespins with 100# cover all the time, no creasing. It may have helped that I hung them back to back.

Has anyone ever used those old school wooden ceiling racks with the marbles? They seem like they would be a pain to make, but maybe not crease the paper as much as clips. (I use bulldog clips if I run out of room on the floor, wouldn't recommend them though).

i use bulldog clips and haven't had any issues. if you have creasing issues with them, maybe you could clip them on a part of the paper that is going to be trimmed off.

    Cari-

What size clips do you use? I really dont want to deckle the edges but if they keep creasing probably will have to.

i just use the small ones...3/4" wide. plenty of tension to hold a 13" x 19" sheet of paper.

StaplesŪ Small Metal Binder Clips, 3/4" size with 3/8" Capacity | StaplesŪ

no need to deckle the edges...just use a paper cutter. the one i have cuts up to 18"
