    Default Large transparency film

    Hey guys/gals,

I was curious how everyone creates their transparencies for large posters (up to 18x24). For the past few years I've just been tiling out my art then cutting and taping the pieces together to make the large film. Anyone who's done this know's it's a huge pain in the ass. Does anyone know of an online resource that will print these out?

    Thanks for the help!

    -Shaun

Delicious Design League will print your films at 24 inches wide at .85 cents an inch. But it helps if you live in the Chicago area.

depending on your art and your exposure set-up, you can get away with kinkos' printouts from the over-size
    machine and oiling them up.
exposure time: up X5 (or 6)

What do you mean oiling them up ?
Do you mean soaking the paper in oil so it becomes transparent ?

I agree, it's a complete ball ache. If anyone could recommend a decent UK/London based company for online ordering that would be amazingly helpful. Also in order to get a decent black I have to triple up each tile adding to this process. I heard that you can get acceptable epson inkjets, again can you suggest a good model?
    Many thanks!

I'm working with a supplier/service provider in my area (Nashville, TN) to perfect large format, digital positives at an affordable price. We're developing a service where I handle the file prep and he handles the print, fulfillment and shipping. Read more in another thread here.

So far, the output has been amazing and registration spot-on.

We have another meeting next week. Hopefully we'll be able to iron out the details and make all this layering and taping-up a thing of the past.

    Your input appreciated.
