what's the best thing to use for a gloss hit? what about a matte clear?

the speedball gloss varnish is pretty good i think...but there may be better.

I don't like the speedball because it takes two long to dry and remains sticky months after printing. I gave up on that. I never really came up with a better solution.
The TW 5000 series gloss overprint clear is pretty good. Two hits (print-dry thoroughly-print again) with a 200# screen screen works well.
It looks best on coated stock...because uncoated paper is absorptive, it will never look the same over uninked (uncoated) paper as it does over ink. If you are using it on something that includes the paper color as negative space or whatever, and you plan on finishing with a gloss varnish, you should seal the blank paper with a solid hit of clear base before you print anything else.

I had luck with Nazdar 2700 overprint clear.
Two hits (print-dry-print) with low mesh. Shiny.
thank you. i didn't know that nazdar did anything water-based.
that's a rad suggestion re: uncoated paper/negative space.

TW Overprint clear also takes too long to dry I think.
